Flying RC aircraft of all sorts has been a love of mine since I was 12 years old.
Flight, of any sort, fascinated my dad and I. I owned a Cessna 172 for a couple of years in my youth. My dad and I built a Heathkit radio and receiver and servos back then for our first powered RC airplane. The plane was very heavy and way underpowered and barely broke ground. After years of flying everything from slope soaring sailplanes, to fast, pattern power planes, I’ve had quite an adventure with RC.
“Enjoying flight through an RC airplane is an outdoor activity that I hope to enjoy for the rest of my life.”
I also fly a Blade CP Pro helicopter and several small drone quad copters. At this point my favorite aircraft is a powered sailplane. I have sold all of my gas supplies and now only fly electric. Foam is a magical construction material and is cheap to buy and easy to repair and is the material of choice for most RC modelers. We have a wonderful local soaring club that I am about to join www.ppssrc.com. For inexpensive aircraft visit www.nitroplanes.com but be warned that they don’t stock extra parts for all aircraft. I would advise buying parts that commonly break when you purchase the airplane from them.
We have a very supportive, small, local hobby store that is a great place to purchase planes and parts—Pikes Peak RC Hobbies. We also have Hobby Town that has several kits and parts.
